Basic life support for healthcare provider

This course is designed to teach the skills for CPR of victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device and oxygen), use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction.  It is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings, including in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.  These healthcare providers may include (but are not limited to) physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician's assistants, residents or fellows or medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants, and other allied health personnel.

The course is also designed for anyone who is required to take a health-care provider course for employment. Proficiency in the skills of this course is a prerequisite for AHA advanced courses in resuscitation, including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and BLS instructor courses.  This course normally takes a full day.

BLS Classroom Courses
American Cardiac Education Specialists (ACES) offers complete BLS provider certification and re-certification courses. These live classroom courses are intended for both first time candidates and for those health care practitioners seeking re-certification & review of the most current American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. All of the instructors (tutors) are AHA certified who have had extensive experience as physicians, nurses, and techs within the health care system. Live classroom courses are generally taught by a tutor in a small group setting (1-6 students), thus allowing for close dialogue (Q & A) between the instructor and student. This model allows for learning to take place in a fast, efficient, and stress-free environment. Scheduling is also convenient & flexible with courses being offered up to 7 days a week.

This on-line BLS Course provides a review for healthcare professionals who have prior CPR training. This program recognizes that healthcare professionals have knowledge and skills acquired from prior CPR training and years of patient care.

There are 12 mandatory checkpoints that must be successfully completed before you are allowed to access the final written exam. You must achieve a passing score of 84% or higher on the written exam. A passing score enables you to schedule your skills evaluation session with an American Heart Association BLS Instructor.

Once you have completed the instructional portion of the course, you will need to schedule a skills evaluation check off session with ACES.  Call or e-mail us with your availability. The skills evaluation session, must be completed within 60 days of completion of course

Upon successful completion of both sections of the course, you will be issued an American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider card.
